Shape the Future of Defence Manufacturing

Are you an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a passion for solving complex engineering challenges? We're looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to play a pivotal role in bringing advanced electrical and cabling systems from design into manufacture for some of the UK's most innovative aerospace and defence programmes.

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected engineering organisation where quality, precision and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything they do. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop robust manufacturing solutions, introduce new products into production, and drive improvements across existing manufacturing processes. If you enjoy taking ownership, influencing manufacturing strategy, and delivering engineering excellence, this is the role for you.

The Role

As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading the manufacturing engineering activities for complex electrical harness and cable assemblies, ensuring products are designed for manufacture and delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with Design, Production and Quality teams, you'll support New Product Introduction (NPI), resolve manufacturing challenges and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, productivity and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the introduction of new electrical products from prototype through to full production.
  • Develop, implement, and optimise manufacturing processes for electrical harness and cable assembly.
  • Create manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and production standards.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to improve manufacturability and production readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, IPC/WHMA-A-620, ESD and configuration management requirements.
  • Support production teams with technical expertise and manufacturing best practices.
About You

You’ll be an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a background in aerospace, defence, automotive or another highly regulated engineering environment. You'll bring experience of:

  • Manufacturing Engineering within a regulated industry
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Electrical harness and cable assembly manufacturing
  • Crimping, soldering, braiding, potting, and connector integration
  • Manufacturing process development and industrialisation
  • AS9100 and quality-driven manufacturing environments
  • CAD and ERP/MRP systems
  • Structured problem solving and continuous improvement

Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP, PFMEA, or automated wire processing would be advantageous.

Why Apply?
  • A four-day working week (Monday-Thursday)
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Long-term career development
  • Exposure to cutting-edge aerospace and defence technologies
  • A collaborative engineering culture where your expertise genuinely makes a difference

If you're ready to take the next step in your manufacturing engineering career and want to work on projects where quality and innovation are paramount, we'd love to hear from you.
