Responsibilities

  • Apply manufacturing engineering knowledge to support development.

  • Develop training packages for modern technologies.
  • Work alongside development teams for Design for Manufacture.

Skills

Experience of working in a Manufacturing Environment
Understanding in MRP/ERP systems

Education

Job description

Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Cowes, Isle of Wight

Salary: Up to £56,140 dependent on experience. Part time & accruing hours available. Please let us know if you would like to discuss these options

What you’ll be doing:
  • Apply depth and breadth of Manufacturing Engineering knowledge and experience to Support/undertake development in the following disciplines: Electromechanical assembly
  • Interpret production drawing data to identify & generate: Tooling requirements, Manufacturing process requirements, handling & safety requirements, estimation of assembly times, methods/routings
  • Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions, effective/efficient/practical shopfloor layouts
  • Conduct the following health and safety related activities: Risk, COSHH, PUWER, Manual handling assessments
  • Undertake technical liaison with sub-contractors and customers
  • Develop training packages to ensure modern technologies and processes are understood and correctly implemented
  • Work alongside development teams to ensure Design for Manufacture is considered for all new products
Your skills and experiences:
  • Experience of working in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Requires a good understanding in MRP/ERP systems
  • Excellent understanding of Production Engineering principles
  • An ability to read and understand engineering drawings, circuit diagrams etc.
  • HNC/D qualification in engineering, or time served equivalent

The Manufacturing Engineering team:

The Manufacturing Engineering team consists of 6 Engineers, including this position. Our Engineers participate in every step of the build process, providing support to the manufacturing functions to ensure requirements are met. Manufacturing Engineering interact with every department within BAE Systems, interfacing with Procurement, Projects, Stores, Manufacturing, Engineering and more. It is a dynamic environment which requires excellent communication, problem solving and planning.
