A leading manufacturing business in Barnsley is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to take a hands‑on leadership role in driving production efficiency, process improvements, and product quality. What You’ll Be Doing
  • Optimising manufacturing processes and workflows to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Leading new product introduction (NPI) projects from concept through to production.
  • Analysing production data, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements.
  • Working closely with cross‑functional teams including engineering, production, and quality to solve production issues.
  • Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and best practice guidelines.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior engineers and production staff to improve skills and performance.
Who You Are

You will be a proactive and technically confident professional with a proven track record in manufacturing engineering. You thrive on solving complex production challenges, improving processes, and working collaboratively with diverse teams.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Significant experience in manufacturing engineering or production management.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, process optimisation, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI).
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, able to influence and motivate teams.
  • Comfortable analysing production data and implementing practical solutions.
Desirable Skills
  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline.
  • Experience in high-volume, automotive, or precision manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma.
