Job summary

Next Ventures seeks an experienced Data Migration Lead to own data migration activities across a major transformation or ERP programme. The role leads the end-to-end migration lifecycle, from strategy and planning through data extraction, transformation, cleansing, validation, reconciliation and cutover.

The role collaborates with business stakeholders, functional leads, technical teams and third-party partners to ensure data is migrated accurately, securely and on schedule.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Lead to take ownership of data migration activities across a major business transformation or ERP programme. The successful candidate will lead the end-to-end migration lifecycle, from strategy and planning through data extraction, transformation, cleansing, validation, reconciliation and cutover.

The role will work closely with business stakeholders, functional leads, technical teams and third-party implementation partners to ensure data is migrated accurately, securely and in line with programme timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the overall data migration strategy, approach and roadmap.
• Lead data migration activities across the full project lifecycle, from discovery through to go-live and hypercare.
• Assess legacy data sources, structures, quality and dependencies.
• Develop and maintain migration plans, timelines, milestones and deliverables.
• Lead data extraction, transformation, cleansing, mapping, validation and loading activities.
• Define data mapping rules and ensure alignment between legacy and target systems.
• Establish and manage data quality, governance and reconciliation processes.
• Coordinate migration activities across business, functional, technical and third-party teams.
• Work closely with functional leads to understand business data requirements and validate migrated data.
• Oversee ETL/migration tooling and ensure appropriate technical solutions are implemented.
• Manage migration risks, issues, dependencies and decisions, escalating where required.
• Define and manage migration testing, mock loads, dress rehearsals and cutover activities.
• Lead data reconciliation and sign-off processes with business stakeholders.
• Support cutover planning and execution, including final data loads and migration validation.
• Provide leadership during go-live and post-go-live data migration/hypercare activities.
• Produce migration documentation, status reporting and governance materials.
• Mentor and coordinate data migration analysts, consultants and technical resources where applicable.

Required Experience

• Significant experience delivering end-to-end data migration programmes.
• Strong experience working on ERP, CRM, HRIS or other large-scale business transformation programmes.
• Proven experience with complex legacy-to-target system migrations.
• Strong understanding of data extraction, transformation, cleansing, mapping, validation and reconciliation.
• Experience leading migration workstreams and managing technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of data governance and data quality principles.
• Experience with migration testing, mock migrations and cutover planning.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working within large, complex or international programmes.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams, priorities, risks and dependencies effectively.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA data migration programmes.
• Experience with SAP migration tooling such as SAP Migration Cockpit, SAP Data Services or SAP BTP.
• Experience with ETL tools and data transformation technologies.
• Experience migrating data across multiple countries, business units or legal entities.
• Previous experience within consulting or large-scale systems integration environments.
• Experience with ERP transformation, carve-outs, acquisitions or global template rollouts.
• Relevant data, technology or project management qualifications.
