Who you are

The Exchange Foundations team is responsible for the administration of a variety of scholarship programs on behalf of high-level private foundations, including the Albanian-American Development Fund (AADF), Baltic American Freedom Foundation (BAFF), and the Romanian American Foundation (RAF).

The Senior Manager, Foundation Programs supports the Director, Foundation Programs in general program operations for all Exchange Foundation Programs. This position will also supervise and oversee the overall placement process and ensure the highest levels of quality and customer satisfaction. Additionally, this position will oversee the BAFF Leadership Academy program, along with several participant Enrichment trips throughout the year. The Senior Manager will be responsible for facilitation, coordination, initiative development, and support for the BAFF Alumni Council.

This position will be the primary liaison for multiple initiatives and will represent the Exchange Foundations department with various external stakeholders, such as U.S. Ambassadors, U.S. and Foreign government appointees and representatives, large corporations, and business owners. The Senior Manager will also work with various CIEE internal leadership members, supporting CIEE events and programming.

What you’ll do

Program Management:

  • Assist in the creation of successful outreach campaigns to generate highly qualified applicant pools.
  • Nurture existing stakeholder relationships throughout the regions of the departments three private Foundation programs.
  • Strengthen, implement, and facilitate systems for monitoring participant awards, and approving and disbursing program adjustments.
  • Develop a comprehensive Placement Process Manual, to include Policies and procedures and SOP’s.
  • Monitor operational expenses and keep current and accurate records.
  • Plan and execute operational expenses, inclusive of monthly wire transfer requests from CIEE Finance, bank transfer confirmations, monthly reporting through BTB/Netsuite.
  • Liase with marketing department and international colleagues to create and disseminate marketing materials as necessary to meet program objectives.
  • Oversee goals-based outreach plan approval, professional admissions process, participant conflict resolution, deferments, and results reporting.
  • Monitor the need for Programmatic updates with CIEE, Director, Foundation Programs.
  • Prepare quarterly impact analysis reports for RAF, AADF, and BAFF Alumni Council functions.
  • Direct Supervision of Program Coordinator staff, to include assistance in recruitment, hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Create and execute a sales plan to meet placement requirements for over 100 scholarship recipients annually.
  • Assist in the negotiation of contracts and budgets.
  • Navigate complex Department of State compliance requirements.
  • Structure and co-lead in-country and out-of-country interviews to interview top students, research scholars, and professional participants.

Research and Development:

  • Analyses of data and participant information.
  • Develop reports and summaries of the Alumni Council phases of the BAFF project (semi-monthly) for submission to BAFF Alumni Council Co-chairs and Director, Foundation Programs.
  • Develop ways to approach and implement new initiatives/projects.
  • Develop and implement solutions to data/numbers issues (i.e. low numbers).
  • Develop reports and summaries of the RAF project (quarterly) for submission to RAF Board of Directors and Director, Foundation Programs.
  • Develop reports and summaries of the AADF project (quarterly) for submission to AADF Board of Directors and Director, Foundation Programs.
  • Develop and foster existing and new strategic partnerships across the United States and other Countries.
  • Design and implement scholarship programs.
  • Recommend and evaluate new business development opportunities.
  • Participate in Foundation Audit processes and preparation of necessary reports and documents.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an Equivalent.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant international work experience.

  • Ability to develop contacts at the highest levels at universities and various governmental entities, including U.S. Embassy contacts.
  • Proven willingness to be flexible in a high-paced environment.
  • Preferably historical experience working with private Foundations and Board of Director members.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings, as required.
  • Outstanding team member skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Foreign language abilities desired.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with budget management processes.
  • Grant writing, implementation, and monitoring background preferred.
