Job summary

Baringa is seeking a Senior Manager Data Engineer within Data, AI, Solutions & Engineering to lead data architectures, pipelines and cloud-based platforms for financial services and other sectors.

You will manage data engineering teams across geographies, work with client leaders to define strategies, and drive delivery using Databricks, AWS, Azure or GCP, with a strong consulting mindset and target-driven mindset.

Data, AI, Solutions & Engineering – Senior Manager Data Engineer

In DAISE, we\'re focused on delivering value-adding, sustainable data capabilities, aligned to our client’s specific needs. This expertise is applied across clients in all of our industry market sectors (Financial Services, Products & Services, Energy & Resources, Pharmaceutical & Lifesciences and Government).

What you will be doing

• Defining and implementing on premise or cloud architectures (e.g., a cloud data warehouse, data lake or data platform) to enable digital transformation
• Working with clients on data warehousing, building operational ETL/ELT data pipelines across multiple sources, and constructing relational and dimensional data models
• Performing maturity assessments across clients’ data capabilities and recommending improvements
• Building technology blueprints and advising clients on the different technology options
• Translating business requirements (functional and non-functional) into solutions, ensuring compliance with the organisation\'s strategy, policies and standards and, where needed, helping customers define new policies, principles and standards
• Helping clients identify risks and mitigations for their complex data programmes, and transition to modern cloud-based infrastructures (AWS, Azure, GCP) by leveraging related architecture patterns (APIs, events)
• Working with clients in data governance, including principles such as Master Data Management, Data Lineage and Data Security
• Directly line managing teams of data engineers, responsible for workloads and development throughout their career at Baringa
• Generating and originating new business development opportunities from your network and cross-selling and upselling across existing client projects

Your skills and experience

• Passionate about data; able to combine technical delivery with core consulting skills in client engagements
• Ability to own and run complex client engagements, interact with industry leaders, work with senior stakeholders to frame problems, assess current state, and make impactful recommendations
• Strong hands-on expertise in data engineering, delivering data architectures, data pipelines and scalable solutions using modern delivery frameworks and tools (e.g., Databricks)
• Experience with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP) as infrastructure and as a service, plus big data platforms on-premise or in the cloud
• Knowledge of technology stacks, experience applying DevOps practices to data engineering, and ability to build CI/CD pipelines
• Proficient in SQL and at least one modern language such as Python
• Understanding of distributed computing, batch and stream processing, functional and object-oriented programming, and data pipelines on cloud with scheduling and SLAs
• Experience documenting solution design artifacts
• Line management / team leadership experience, ideally in multiple geographical locations
• Experience working to a formal sales target in a consulting environment and evidence of bringing in new clients
