Job summary

Orchard Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting & FP&A to lead financial reporting, month-end closing and business partnering across G&A functions in London. The role requires deep accounting knowledge and cross-functional collaboration with auditors and strategic partners.

The ideal candidate will manage GL for G&A, support payroll and budgeting processes, and drive process improvements while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on roles within industry; pharma/biotech preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and internal controls.
• Experience with NetSuite, Adaptive Planning and Concur.
• Advanced Excel skills including lookup functions, PivotTables and large data sets.
• Effective communication across all levels; highly organized with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger accounts for G&A departments (HR, Legal, Facilities, IT, etc.) ensuring accurate monthly close and reconciliations.
• Partner with G&A leaders to deliver monthly financial reporting and support budgeting/forecasting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
• Supervise and approve cash disbursements to vendors in line with internal controls.
• Coordinate payroll journal entries and payroll account reconciliations with payroll.
• Assist in monthly reporting to the parent company.
• Support internal and external audits with documentation and responses.
• Ensure accounting policy adherence and drive process improvements across finance.
• Collaborate with auditors, service providers, and cross-functional partners.

Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Accounting & FP&A will be a key member of the Finance team and will play a key role in financial reporting, month-end closing, and business partnering across G&A functions. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of accounting, internal controls, and experience of both internal and external financial planning, analysis and reporting. Success in this role will require the ability to work in a collaborative manner with peers, auditors and strategic partners, and to effectively communicate with various levels of management and external service providers. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker and a proactive problem-solver with a collaborative mindset and a continuous improvement focus.

Key Elements And Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger accounts for G&A departments (HR, Legal, Facilities, IT, etc.) ensuring accurate and timely financial month-end close, including recording journal entries, reviewing account reconciliations and roll-forwards, and performing detailed account analyses.
• Partner with G&A department leaders to deliver monthly financial reporting and support financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
• Supervise and approve cash disbursements to third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company policies and internal controls.
• Partner with the payroll department to ensure accurate and timely recording of payroll-related journal entries and reconciliation of payroll accounts, including wages, taxes, benefits, and related accruals.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting to parent company.
• Support internal and external audit processes, including documentation and response to inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal accounting policies.
• Drive process improvements and promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on operational roles within industry; experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech sector is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and internal controls.
• Strong proficiency in accounting systems; ideally with NetSuite, Adaptive Planning, and Concur
• Advanced Excel skills are required, including proficiency with lookup functions, PivotTables, and handling large data sets.
• The ability to communicate effectively through the use of different means to a broad range of individuals at all levels.
• Highly organized with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet internal and external deadlines to the desired standard.
