Job description

My client, a leading care provider, is seeking an experienced Head of Maintenance to lead a team of Maintenance Managers across England and Wales. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and compliance of all facilities under their care.

This position offers an immediate temporary start, with the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

The permanent equivalent salary is £60k pa basic + Car allowance

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the planning, scheduling, and execution of repairs and preventative maintenance across multiple sites.
  • Develop and manage maintenance strategies, budgets, and schedules to ensure operational efficiency and minimal downtime.
  • Oversee the delivery of Capex projects, including planning, resource allocation, and execution.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations and internal standards.
  • Collaborate with the New Development Team to ensure new-build properties meet regulatory requirements.
  • Support sustainability initiatives in partnership with the Sustainability Manager.
  • Manage and resolve maintenance issues, including equipment failures and emergency repairs.
  • Monitor contractor performance and negotiate service contracts where necessary.
Requirements
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, with surveying experience.
  • Proven experience in managing preventative maintenance programs and large-scale facilities.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and contract negotiation abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of health and safety compliance.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
