Job summary
The University of Reading is seeking a Senior Maintenance Electrician to join the Estates Campus Operations team at Whiteknights Campus. You will deliver reactive, planned and preventive electrical maintenance across University-owned properties, diagnose faults and implement safe, effective solutions.
The role is 36 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 8:00-16:00 and Friday 8:00-15:45, with an on-call rota, standby allowance and overtime payments.
Qualifications
- Time-served apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
- 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations to BS7671.
- Experience in planned, preventative and reactive electrical maintenance.
- Extensive fault-finding experience on complex electrical installations.
- Strong communication and customer care skills; professional and proactive.
Responsibilities
- Provide reactive maintenance service across University properties.
- Undertake fault finding, repairs and planned maintenance activities.
- Diagnose electrical failures and implement safe, effective solutions.
- Manage and prioritise own workload; maintain accurate records in CAFM.
- Carry out work safely in line with legislation and university procedures.
- Participate in on-call rota for 24/7 service.
