Job description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer in the United Kingdom.

This role offers the chance to lead the development of scalable AI‑powered solutions in highly regulated industries, such as finance, legal, or healthcare. You will work in a global engineering organization, designing, building, and deploying machine learning models and data pipelines, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams, cloud specialists, and stakeholders. The role combines hands‑on development with technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and shaping best practices across the team. You will leverage cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and production‑grade ML frameworks to deliver impactful solutions. This position is fully remote, with opportunities to influence the engineering culture and contribute to high‑value AI projects at scale.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, implement, and deploy scalable ML models and data pipelines to address complex business challenges.
  • Translate business requirements into technical ML solutions using appropriate algorithms, models, and tools.
  • Develop cloud‑native ML solutions on AWS, leveraging services such as SageMaker, Lambda, S3, and Redshift.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure‑as‑Code workflows using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Collaborate with product teams, data scientists, DevOps, and external cloud partners to ensure reliable and efficient ML services.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach mid‑level and junior engineers to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure models meet performance, accuracy, and compliance standards, maintaining thorough documentation throughout the ML lifecycle.
  • 4–6 years of hands‑on experience in machine learning engineering or data science roles.
  • Proven success in building and deploying ML/AI solutions at scale, ideally in regulated sectors (finance, legal, healthcare).
  • Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency with libraries such as scikit‑learn, pandas, NumPy, and at least one deep learning framework (TensorFlow or PyTorch).
  • Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services, particularly SageMaker, and familiarity with other services like Lambda, S3, Redshift, and CloudWatch.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices, Docker, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Solid understanding of MLOps principles and how to productionize ML systems effectively.
  • Experience leading small teams or mentoring engineers in a collaborative, agile environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain ML concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Based in the UK with legal authorization to work in the country.
Preferred / Nice‑to‑have
  • Experience in legal tech, contract analytics, or financial modelling using NLP, classification, or predictive models.
  • Exposure to MLOps tools like MLflow, Kubeflow, or Apache Spark.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty or TensorFlow Developer.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed, cross‑functional teams.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary up to £80,000 per year, plus company benefits.
  • 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Life assurance, private medical insurance, and dental coverage.
  • Health assessments and discounted gym memberships.
  • TechScheme for salary sacrifice schemes on gadgets and household appliances.
  • Cycle‑to‑work scheme.
  • Referral program and career development opportunities.
  • Fully remote work with global team collaboration.
