First Recruitment Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join the Central Commercial Team in Burton upon Trent. The role focuses on driving commercial performance across a diverse M&E project portfolio, from tender stage through final account, working with operational, finance and leadership teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in the M&E sector, strong negotiation skills, and a proactive, detail‑oriented approach.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience within the M&E sector.
• Strong contract negotiation, risk management and commercial delivery experience.
• Strong financial and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support contract reviews, negotiations and documentation in line with governance requirements.
• Manage contract terms, obligations, bonds and warranties.
• Provide commercial input throughout tendering and bidding, including risk assessment.
• Prepare and issue subcontract orders and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Support project teams with CVRs, cost control and profit improvement.
• Manage variations, claims and final accounts to maximise commercial outcomes.
• Monitor work in progress and overall commercial performance.
• Support resolution of contractual issues and disputes.
• Mentor and develop operational teams with strong commercial awareness.
