Job summary

Leyland Trucks Ltd in Leyland, Lancashire, is seeking a Senior Operations Logistics Engineer to lead improvement activities within the Materials function, delivering safety, quality, delivery and cost gains across the production supply chain.

You will supervise Material Handling Supervisors, drive new processes and layouts, and analyse data to identify opportunities. Strong Excel/data analytics and UK/Europe travel readiness are essential; Six Sigma belt is desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills (Essential).
• Experience leading, coaching and developing individuals and teams (Essential).
• Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to manage competing priorities (Essential).
• Strong analytical capability with advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Essential).
• Experience using reporting and data analytics tools to support decision-making (Essential).
• Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe when required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, guide and coach Material Handling Supervisors and teams.
• Identify and deliver significant business improvements through new processes and systems.
• Balance production priorities with longer-term improvement initiatives.
• Develop departmental safety performance through risk assessment processes.
• Maintain inventory accuracy via effective material movement and control.
• Support development of internal processes and layouts for future product introductions.
• Analyse operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Travel within the UK and Europe when required.
