Job summary

DXC Technology is seeking a senior Linux engineer to act as the Linux technical authority across DXC-managed environments. You will own platform integrity, drive architectural improvements, and lead major incidents while automating operations using shell scripting and Ansible/Puppet.

The role requires on-site work in Hampshire, UK, five days a week, with a strong emphasis on security hardening and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years administering Linux in enterprise or regulated environments.
• Deep expertise with RHEL/CentOS/Oracle Linux/SUSE and complex ownership.
• Strong incident ownership and RCA skills.
• Security baselines (CIS/STIG) and hardening experience.
• Automation with Bash, Python, Ansible or Puppet at scale.
• Experience with DR, HA, clustering and migrations.
• Storage and network integration across SANs and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead Linux capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Define secure OS baselines and patch cycles.
• Own major incidents and root-cause analysis.
• Automate tasks and implement infrastructure-as-code.
• Coordinate with security, compliance, and other teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge.
• Design platform modernization and containerization.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and evidence.
