Job summary

Islington Council is seeking a Principal Lift Engineer to lead and manage lift projects and maintenance programs for council assets. You will liaise with stakeholders, prepare design briefs, manage procurement, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a Chartered engineer or NVQ with at least six years post-qualification lifting experience, strong contract management, and proven ability to deliver complex schemes on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience in lift design and maintenance.
• Ability to prepare programmes of work and manage projects to time and budget.
• Knowledge of building services regulations and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop annual packages of lift maintenance work.
• Procure contractors and manage pre-contract surveys.
• Coordinate with procurement team for contractor appointments.
• Prepare design briefs, feasibility reports and tender docs.
• Monitor consultants and manage on-site safety and quality.
• Prepare reports for senior management and committees.
• Ensure cost effective and compliant service delivery.
• Lead on large lift projects and supervise staff.
