Agratas – A Tata Enterprise in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead Li-ion battery cell design within its Cell Design team. The role focuses on translating innovative concepts into scalable, high-performance cells for automotive and energy storage applications.

The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on experience in Li-ion cell mechanical design, CAD excellence, and a track record of moving products from prototype to pilot-scale

Qualifications

• Significant Li-ion battery cell mechanical design experience in commercial or automotive sectors.
• Strong understanding of cell architecture and mechanical performance requirements.
• Experience taking products from concept to pilot-scale manufacturing.
• Proficient in CAD with ability to create drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical elements of Li-ion battery cells and related hardware.
• Develop test plans to meet performance, energy density, durability, and cycle life targets.
• Define mechanical requirements mapped to system-level specifications.
• Collaborate to scale designs from prototype to pilot production.
• Apply DFM to improve manufacturability, yield and cost.
