Job summary

M&G is seeking a Leveraged Finance Research Analyst to deliver high-quality research and insights supporting investment decisions. You will assess leveraged finance and private credit investments, monitor market developments and present concise, evidence-based outputs.

Collaborate with senior analysts, fund managers and stakeholders across private and public markets. You will build financial models, research ESG considerations, participate in management meetings and contribute to investment

Qualifications

• Experience in leveraged finance, high yield or direct lending.
• Knowledge of sponsor-backed credit and capital structures across sectors.
• Ability to convert complex financial and qualitative information into concise recommendations.
• Understanding of credit agreements, bond indentures and covenants.
• Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence through expertise.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present analysis.
• Ability to work independently with sound judgment.
• Strong organisation and prioritisation in changing markets.
• Advanced skills in Excel, Bloomberg, AI and related platforms.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate leveraged loan and direct lending investments, assessing performance, capital structure and risk.
• Research companies and sectors; review due-diligence materials for investment decisions.
• Build and maintain financial models covering historical performance, forecasts, sensitivities and debt capacity.
• Assess ESG considerations and present findings.
• Attend management meetings; prepare focused questions and evaluate information.
• Prepare investment submissions and present recommendations to credit committee.
• Review legal documents as part of the analysis process.
• Present in credit committee meetings and respond to challenge.
• Monitor portfolio of investments and provide timely credit-event updates.
• Analyse investments to inform purchase/hold/sell recommendations.
• Build relationships with credit analysts, fund managers and stakeholders.
• Support and train junior team members.
• Support continuous improvement to enhance research quality and risk management.
• Ensure activities align with policies and regulatory requirements.
