Job summary

University of Sheffield is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Visual Computing and Multimodal Intelligence. The role leads a high-profile research programme at the intersection of computer vision, 3D graphics, and large multimodal models, while delivering excellence across undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.

You will foster collaborations across labs, industry, and national networks, supervise researchers, and drive impact through grants and publications.

Qualifications

• PhD in computer science or a relevant subject area.
• Established track record of high-quality, internationally excellent research in visual computing and multimodal processing, with a clear future research vision.
• Proven track record of generating research income and securing funding.
• Evidence of generating research impact beyond academia (eg via public engagement, patents, consultancy).
• Ability to design and deliver high-quality teaching programmes with research-led teaching.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with high personal effectiveness.
• Proven ability to make accountable, creative decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead innovative research and scholarship recognised internationally for originality and rigour.
• Manage a portfolio of external income and funding strategies.
• Disseminate findings through conferences and high-quality journals.
• Demonstrate impact to economy, society, culture or policy; engage with industry and policymakers.
• Lead, supervise, and develop a team of research staff and students.
• Develop and deliver high-quality teaching; shape policy, strategy, and curriculum design.
