A UK higher education institution seeks an experienced Occupational Therapist to teach on their MSc Occupational Therapy course. The ideal candidate will inspire students and contribute to innovative and transformative learning experiences. Responsibilities include curriculum development, student support, and engagement in research and scholarly activities. Applicants should possess a good honours degree, a postgraduate qualification, and ideally a teaching qualification. This role may require flexible working hours including weekends and occasional travel.
This opportunity would ideally suit an experienced Band 6 or above Occupational Therapist working in the NHS (or equivalent) that has expertise in formal teaching, training, supervision and/or higher education.
You will be be an HCPC-registered occupational therapist and have well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to contemporary practice and pre-registration education.You will ideally be at the forefront of new ways of working in the NHS, in either primary or secondary settings, demonstrating care innovation and emergent management pathways.
You will be involved in the delivery of our MSc Occupational Therapy course and inter-professional portfolio where there will be opportunities to take on academic leadership responsibilities. We are looking for an individual who can inspire our students, and make a valuable contribution to their learning experience, whilst preparing them for contemporary practice. Alongside this, is the opportunity to develop your career to further your own clinical academic profile and enhance your teaching accessing a PG Cert in HE in Teaching and Learning.
We are growing our Occupational Therapy team due to continued expansion of our teaching portfolio. Our teaching team has a range of expertise in all areas of occupational therapy and is responsible for a distinctive and high-quality education portfolio which includes the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, BSc Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship, the pre-registration MSc Occupational Therapy and MSc Advanced Practice in Sensory Integration. In addition, the team contributes to cross-department and cross-College teaching including the inter-professional education provision and CPD provision.
To teach and support students by taking a learner-centred approach in line with the Universitys learning, teaching and assessment strategy.
To contribute to curriculum development and delivery, research and other forms of scholarly activity as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Designs and delivers innovative, high quality and challenging learning experiences.
Equips students with the skills, knowledge and attributes required by employers through delivery of the curriculum.
Contributes to the development of a sense of student community and acts as key contact for students.
Assists with the operational delivery of courses / modules and acts proactively to address any emerging issues, escalating as appropriate.
Actively participates in student induction (where appropriate), including preparation of key information for students.
Plays an active role in the pastoral care and supervision of students.
Learning, teaching and assessment
Plans and delivers the curriculum using appropriate media, including the use of IT.
Engages in critical reflection on practice as a basis for improving performance.
Contributes to innovation in learning, teaching, assessment and curriculum development with the aim of meeting the needs of learners.

Translates professional experience into the academic context as appropriate.
Regularly engages in staff development activities relating to teaching, learning and assessment.
Supervises individual and group-based student activities, e.g. dissertations, industrial placements, work-based projects.
