Be part of a team managing a high performance compute estate, utilizing a portfolio of auxiliary micro‑services to automate builds and monitor the infrastructure.

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within a Technology Division, you will be responsible for leading a small team of Java developers integrating various technologies to deliver modern robust tooling. In the role you will need to prioritize work within the team, promote collaboration and enable others to succeed, you will be viewed as the SME for the Java portfolio of apps and expected to help design and solve complex problems leveraging your and other's deep technical expertise.

Job responsibilities
  • Managing and mentoring a small team of Java developers to work across projects in an agile fashion
  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Develops secure and high‑quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Serves as a function‑wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firm‑wide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Influences peers and project decision‑makers to consider the use and application of leading‑edge technologies
  • Adds to the team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Java with Spring Boot developer (v17 & v21, with view to continuous modernization)
  • Integrating Java with other systems (Databases / Restful APIs, etc)
  • Practiced in CICD, with understanding of managing risk whilst accelerating development
  • Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and proficient advanced experience
  • Hands‑on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in‑depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Prefer to have experience with Linux
  • Some knowledge of Python
