Job summary

J.P. Morgan Asset & Wealth Management seeks a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join the Managed Accounts team in Glasgow. You will be a core technical contributor delivering secure, scalable technology and supporting the integrity of managed account solutions for clients.

You will lead architectural evaluations, drive AI-assisted engineering practices, and mentor teams while ensuring robust security, resiliency, and compliance across the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages (Java, React, SQL).
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies, CI/CD, resiliency and security.
  • Experience with cloud-native environments and AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

  • Execute creative software solutions and troubleshoot complex problems beyond routine approaches.
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code and review others' code.
  • Identify opportunities to automate remediation to improve stability of software applications.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams on architecture and feasibility.
  • Lead communities of practice to promote new technologies within the team.
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices while enforcing secure coding standards.

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Asset & Wealth Management Managed Accounts team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives. You will play a key role in facilitating the maintenance, controls, and distribution of ideal client holdings to systems — directly supporting the integrity and performance of managed account solutions for our clients.

Job Responsibilities
  • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and adoption of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
  • Contribute to a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, with a focus on Java, React, and SQL
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as continuous integration and continuous delivery, application resiliency, and security
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its technology systems
  • Practical cloud-native experience
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
  • Experience working within managed accounts, wealth management, or investment platforms
  • Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks and component-based architecture
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and distributed systems design
