Job summary

Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group is seeking a Senior Lead Operational Buyer to oversee a professional, efficient, collaborative procurement service within the One Dorset Procurement Service (ODPS).

The role includes timely renewal of maintenance contracts, capital procurements with whole-life cost considerations, and delivering specialist advice for high-value or complex goods and services within policy.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement or commercial environment, including negotiation and supporting procurement activities.
• Knowledge of procurement principles and public procurement legislation, gained through qualifications, training or experience
• Strong analytical and IT skills, including Excel and procurement/e-procurement systems, with the ability to analyse data and make recommendations.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work collaboratively with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver a professional procurement service for ODPS projects and activities.
• Ensure timely renewal of maintenance contracts and manage capital procurements with whole-life cost considerations.
• Provide specialist advice for high-value or complex goods and services within policy parameters.

Job description

The Senior Lead Operational Buyer is responsible for delivering a professional, efficient, collaborative and effective procurement service for a range of projects and procurement activities within the One Dorset Procurement Service (ODPS). The role includes timely renewal of maintenance contracts, capital procurements with consideration for whole life costs, and provides specialist advice for goods and services of higher value and/or complexity within the parameters defined in the ODPS procurement policy. The post holder will maintain a comprehensive maintenance contract register, analyse procurement data and contribute to savings targets.
