Job summary

Version 1 in Belfast is seeking an experienced software developer to contribute to government projects using Kotlin and Java on AWS. You will work in a Scrum team in a modern Agile environment, building maintainable solutions for our customers.

The role involves Frontend (TypeScript/Node.js) and Backend (Kotlin/SpringBoot/Hibernate), with Docker/Kubernetes on AWS. Security clearance is required to progress in this government project.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of coding best practices and modern architectural patterns.
• NFR / Non-Functional requirement understanding and experience developing applications with this in mind.
• Application / Digital Services Design experience.
• Experience in software engineering practices like Code Reviews, CI/CD Pipelines and SOLID/DRY principles.
• Hands-on developing / coding role using Frontend (TypeScript, Node, Express JS) and Backend (Kotlin, SpringBoot, Hibernate).
• Experience in estimation and sizing.
• Integration experience.
• API Design experience.
• Cloud experience.
• Appetite to work with emerging AI technologies
• SC Eligible

Job Description

Developing software for clients using Kotlin and Java on the AWS Cloud platform, following best practice. In addition to Kotlin, this project utilises Typescript/Node.js using the GOV.UK Design System. Kubernetes and Docker to schedule and run services hosted on AWS Cloud.

You’ll join a Scrum Team of cross-functional skills working in a modern Agile environment. Contributing to real decisions about technology to create maintainable solutions for our customers and participating in a highly collaborative group of software engineering professionals. Learning, developing your skills, and becoming a rounded Developer in the process.

This is a government project, and you must undergo Security Clearance if successful.
