Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in London seeks an experienced Senior KDB+ Developer to design, build, and optimize high-performance data platforms based on kdb+. You will work closely with Risk teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions and mentor junior developers.

You will own kdb+ tick architectures, tune queries, and drive best practices across the team while collaborating within an Agile delivery environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on kdb+ development in production.
• Strong expertise in q language: table design (splayed, partitioned, segmented), in‑memory vs on‑disk, efficient joins, aggregations, and windowed analytics.
• Deep understanding of kdb+ tick architecture (ticker plant, RDB, HDB).
• Experience with large datasets and performance optimization of queries.
• Unix/Linux proficiency including shell scripting for automation and operations.
• Familiarity with Agile, CI/CD, version control, release management.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain kdb+ tick systems with scalable architectures.
• Analyse and optimise q queries, data models, and ingestion pipelines for real time and historical workloads.
• Collaborate with Risk function teams to translate requirements into scalable kdb+ solutions.
• Take ownership of performance diagnostics across CPU, memory, disk I/O, and network usage.
• Develop robust and reusable q libraries, utilities, and frameworks with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers and promote best practices.
• Participate in design reviews, production support, and root cause analysis in an Agile environment.
