Job summary

Simple Machines is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design and build scalable JVM-based backend services using Kotlin, with API-first thinking and data-driven design. You will own delivery across the stack, collaborating with data teams and clients in a hybrid London setup.

Experience with AWS/GCP/Azure, IaC, and containerized deployments is expected. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, end-to-end ownership, and a consultative approach across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience in JVM-based backend development with Kotlin.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services for a highly scalable marketing platform
• Own the design of APIs, applications, and supporting infrastructure
• Document technical designs and requirements clearly for both internal teams and clients
• Deliver solutions end-to-end: build, automate, deploy, operate, and support
• Partner with clients and delivery teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
• Work within an Agile, iterative delivery model
• Collaborate in a hybrid setup with both remote and in-person team members and stakeholders
