Job summary

Spotlight Sports Group is seeking a senior journalist to join the Racing Post editorial team in Ireland. You will deliver exclusive stories on Irish horseracing, expand a high-level contacts book, and contribute analysis across reports, features, and video segments.

Qualifications

• Excellent writing and storytelling skills with an instinct for finding stories others miss.
• A strong knowledge of the horseracing landscape in Ireland and its interlinked industries.
• Experience using racing and industry data as the basis for storytelling, with an ability to identify important trends and statistics.
• Comfortable using performance analytics to shape your approach to identifying and executing stories.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-player attitude.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a regular flow of exclusives among a significant volume of strong stories.
• Develop and maintain a sport-leading contacts book with senior trainers/jockeys and administrators.
• Write expert analysis, comment and explainers to produce comprehensive packages around the biggest stories.
• Produce audio-visual output as part of editorial content packages and pitch ideas to the Ireland editor.
• Actively contribute ideas for news, special reports and investigations, monitor the daily news environment in racing and betting.
