Job summary

Gist is seeking a Senior Java/Spring Engineer to design, develop and mentor within a hybrid work arrangement in Basingstoke, combining office days at Chineham head office with home-working.

The role involves leading technical decisions, delivering production Java/Spring applications, influencing architecture, and coaching junior developers in a collaborative, Agile environment. It also requires involvement in CI/CD, DevOps practices, and out-of-hours support on a 1 in 8 rotation.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of Java, including OOP, collections and multithreading.
• Extensive experience with Spring and Hibernate and delivering production-grade Java/Spring apps.
• Strong understanding of software design principles and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality Java applications.
• Contribute to system architecture and key technical decisions.
• Mentor junior developers and promote code quality and testing practices.
