Job summary

Cognizant Nottingham is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to design and deliver scalable web apps and microservices-based solutions. You will work with developers, architects, and cross-functional teams to build secure, high-performance software.

You will contribute to architecture, implement RESTful services, and ensure quality through testing, code reviews, and security practices. This hybrid role requires UK residence and offers growth in Gen AI tooling and cloud adoption.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with Core Java / Java 8 and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with React JS and front-end technologies.
• Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (GitHub, Jenkins).
• Strong understanding of Microservices architecture and RESTful services.
• Experience with API design and security, data protection.
• Good experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and observability.
• Understanding of SRE principles and Agile delivery (Jira).
• Excellent communication skills; able to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Graduate degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement tasks and components per client requirements with unit tests.
• Design architecture of web apps using microservices for scalable solutions.
• Develop and maintain business layer, interfaces, services and stored procedures; seek peer review.
• Write and execute unit tests; resolve defects; support testing phases.
• Clarify requirements, provide estimates and support PoC work with stakeholders.
• Identify risks early; ensure component integration; maintain traceability and SCM compliance.
• Collaborate with designers to convert visuals; contribute to security and data protection.
• Contribute to knowledge assets and team repository; promote reuse of assets.
• Suggest process improvements and value-add ideas; align with Cognizant 2.0 standards.
