Role Overview
This role is part of our Digital Platform Services team, responsible for delivering central services to the divisions in an API‑first way by utilising AI and new ways of working.
Responsibilities
- Use Claude code and/or other AI tools/frameworks in the development lifecycle, from shaping requirements to deployment and measurement.
- Present and share case studies and collaborate with wider IG Technology to showcase faster, more efficient processes.
- Lead a team of 9‑10 senior AI engineers, ensuring their growth and maintaining a high‑performance culture that thrives on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive hands‑on engineering excellence across Java frameworks, leveraging AI‑powered development tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to accelerate delivery and maintain code quality.
- Own and strategically prioritise an engineering opportunity backlog, partnering with divisional and Group stakeholders on scalable AI‑driven solutions.
- Champion a high‑performance engineering environment, fostering collaboration, technical mastery, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
- Proven hands‑on Java coding experience.
- Ability to identify and articulate real problems with a strong focus on execution.
- Knowledge of modern architecture: microservices, APIs, and Cloud technologies.
- Passion for coding and a measurement‑driven approach.
- Excitement about AI‑first development and contributing daily with AI engineers.
- Attitude to get things done and walk the talk.
