Job summary

DXC Luxoft Financial Services is seeking a skilled Java developer to upgrade and modernize core applications for large financial institutions. The role focuses on Spring Boot migrations, distributed systems modernization, and resilient microservice design.

You will work with Kafka-based integrations, cloud-enabled architectures, and collaborate across QA, DevOps and architecture teams to ensure high performance and security. Strong Java and tooling experience is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Must have strong commercial Java development experience.
• Solid knowledge of Java and the wider Java ecosystem.
• Experience with Spring and/or Spring Boot.
• Experience managing dependencies using Maven and/or Gradle.
• Experience upgrading Java libraries, frameworks and third-party dependencies.
• Experience identifying, investigating and remediating software security vulnerabilities.
• Good understanding of secure coding practices and common application security risks.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with established or legacy Java applications.
• Experience assessing the impact of upgrades and remediation changes on existing systems.
• Experience with unit and integration testing.

Responsibilities

• This initiative focuses on:- Upgrading legacy applications to modern Spring Boot versions (2.x → 3.x)- Decommissioning and replacing Hazelcast across distributed systems- Refactoring applications to align with modern, cloud-ready, stateless architectures- Enhancing integration with event-driven systems using Apache Kafka- Supporting applications connected to Murex batch and real-time processing flowsThis is a high-impact program in a low-latency financial environment, where system stability, performance, and correctness are critical.We are seeking a Java developer who can design and build with minimum supervision solutions for our team. The person needs to be knowledgeable on modern software development practices including Scrums, be up to date with the latest Java tools and frameworks and be able to work with the existing team to deliver solutions. The ideal candidate will be diligent, tenacious and delivery focused with a track record of building high quality solutions that are resilient and maintainable.
