Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking a Senior Technology / ITS Engineer to manage technology assets on the strategic road network. The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with experience in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and a strong understanding of road design standards. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise, developing improvement solutions, and supporting project management activities.

Qualifications

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with necessary experience.
  • Degree or HND in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise for evaluating technology asset needs.
  • Develop solutions for technology improvements and renewals.
  • Identify and manage surveys for asset improvements.
  • Support Project Managers with materials approvals.
  • Review third-party designs for compliance.

Senior Technology / ITS Engineer

Our client have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technology / ITS Engineer to join their Southeast technology team, managing and maintaining all technology assets on the SE strategic road network.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise in the identification and evaluation of technology asset specific needs and early solutions, while assuring adherence to defined asset policies and standards.
  • Develop early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability and costs.
  • Identify, prepare briefs and manage delivery of survey works that support the improvement and/or renewal of assets.
  • Develop the region's asset led forward programme and initial scheme development.
  • Provide technical support to Project Managers by assisting with materials approvals, vetting of contractors' compliance, inspection support on site, and reviewing health and safety files.
  • Review third-party designs for compliance to design and maintenance requirements.
  • Undertake feasibility studies, investigations, and technology research to provide innovative solutions.
About you
  • A Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and member of a relevant professional Body with appropriate experience.
  • Degree or HND in related discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent.
  • Experience of ITS (Intelligent Transport system).
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015.
  • Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highways network.
