This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of a transformative project, working with a passionate and collaborative team of over 40 people in group IT.

The IT Senior Developer will provide technical leadership and expertise for the Development and Test team, mentoring developers to design and build ERP system configurations, extensions, and integrations between our ERP (IFS) and Integrated Systems via our IPaaS (Snaplogic).

The IT Senior Developer is responsible for the development and implementation of high‑quality, secure, resilient, and supportable solutions that meet functional requirements and align with end‑to‑end designs.

The role will offer hybrid working based from Harrogate (HG2 7DL). Please note that this position is not suitable for fully remote applicants, as regular on‑site collaboration in Harrogate is essential.

As a Senior IT Developer, you will :

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of ERP (IFS) configurations and integrations : using SnapLogic and other integration platforms to meet evolving business needs.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the Development and Test team, promoting best practices, upskilling colleagues, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
• Work closely with Project teams and Continual Delivery initiatives to deliver high‑quality, fit‑for‑purpose IT solutions, ensuring development activities align with project timelines and business priorities.
• Develop secure, scalable, and supportable solutions using modern programming languages (such as : PL / SQL, .NET, JavaScript, Python) and Azure services, including Service Bus and Functions.
• Define, maintain, and promote coding standards and best practices across development and the department, ensuring they are regularly reviewed, updated, and consistently applied to support high‑quality, maintainable, and secure code. Ensure adherence to standards and regulation including to ISO27001, PCI DSS, and GDPR. Ensure quality and compliance across the development lifecycle, working closely with Test Analysts to validate solutions.
• Manage version control, documentation, and release processes, partnering closely with teams supporting live service, such as IT Solution Specialists (ITSS) and the Service Hub to ensure traceability, smooth transitions into service, and effective support during hypercare.
• Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust Low‑Level Designs, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and strategy.
• Drive innovation through research, prototyping, tool evaluations and the adoption of emerging technologies , including low‑code / no‑code platforms, AI / ML, and event‑driven architectures.
• Champion continuous improvement in development methodologies, tools, and processes, contributing to the definition and governance of internal standards and best practices. Lead improvements to drive efficiencies via reduced lifecycle times and removing wasted effort.
• Engage with cross‑functional teams and advisory boards, including the Change Advisory Board and Architecture Advisory Group, to influence development strategy and ensure cohesive delivery.
• Utilise project and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, Confluence, and Halo to manage development tasks, track progress, and maintain transparency across teams.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of the IFS & Snaplogic solution capabilities and external best practice, bringing understanding into practice at BTG. Share this expertise and work within Dev and Test team to define, develop, and document internal best practice.

Technical escalation point, resolving complex issues, supporting incident and problem management, occasionally providing Out of Hours (OOH) support.
