A leading financial services provider in Birmingham is looking for a Senior Investigator. This role involves leading a team focused on preventing economic crime through complex investigations. The successful candidate will possess excellent knowledge of economic crime methodologies, alongside strong analytical skills to interrogate data sets. We’re an expert and motivated team that undertake intelligence led financial investigations for the Commercial Banking division. As a Senior Investigator you’ll work in a highly collaborative way and take pride in the detection and prevention of economic crime.

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
About this opportunity:
This is a phenomenal opportunity to join our team! You’ll be responsible for leading and supporting a team of investigators whilst undertaking your own complex investigations. Working in a highly collaborative fashion you’ll seek to exploit opportunities to mitigate economic crime risks through proactive and strategic avenues where possible.
What you'll be doing:
Lead a team of experienced investigators, overseeing complex economic crime investigations arising from a wide range of triggers within the first line of defence.
Drive the professional development, coaching, and capability uplift of investigators, ensuring consistently high-quality investigative outcomes.
Deputise for the Senior Manager as required, providing leadership, oversight, and informed decision‑making across the function.
Build, manage, and influence key partner relationships across all lines of defence to ensure effective collaboration and issue resolution.
Champion continuous improvement, finding opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and deliver meaningful positive change.

Excellent knowledge of economic crime and in particular the methods used for money laundering
Proven investigative experience
Analytical skills which allow you to interrogate large or complex data sets and identify suspicious trends and patterns
Produce professional reports and expertly communicate output to leaders including the Head of ECP Risk Decisioning & Investigations.
Strong partner management and influencing capabilities
It would also be useful if you have:
Good understanding of the Economic Crime Prevention Policy & Procedures and how they are applied to our commercial banking business
Experience of undertaking intelligence-led investigations
Knowledge of corporate banking including the product offerings, customer segments and systems
Any relevant Financial Crime or AML Professional qualifications
