Job summary

A local government service provider in the UK is seeking a qualified Auditor to oversee auditing processes and mentor junior staff. The role requires strong public sector experience, relevant professional qualifications, and skills in communication and negotiation. The individual will contribute to evaluating internal controls and facilitating improvements in governance and risk management within the Council.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of being an Auditor within the Public Sector.
• Experience in a Local Government internal audit environment.
• Ability to achieve level 3 and work towards level 4 skills competencies.

Responsibilities

• Execute risk-based audits of Council services to identify strengths and weaknesses.
• Coordinate and plan work effectively to meet deadlines.
• Supervise and mentor internal auditors, both remotely and in-office.

Skills

Experience in Public Sector Auditing

Strong communication skills

Ability to work with senior management

Negotiation skills

Education

Part-qualified CIPFA or equivalent CCAB

AAT, IIA or QICA qualification

Practitioner in the Institute of Internal Auditors (PIIA)
