Job summary

Wrexham Critical Care Unit seeks a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine to join a collaborative multidisciplinary team. You will lead consultant-led ICU services, participate in on-call rotas, supervise trainees and contribute to teaching and governance.

Qualifications

• GMC Specialist Registration in ICM (dual with Anaesthesia preferred; dual with another specialty or single CCT in ICM considered) or CESR with registration at interview.
• FFICM and/or FRCA (or equivalent).
• Stage 3 training/SIA in Critical Care Medicine relevant to the post.
• Stage 3 training in Anaesthesia or a recognised second specialty.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-led Intensive Care Medicine services.
• Participate in ICU consultant on-call rota (1:10, non-resident).
• Provide Critical Care daytime cover.
• Undertake anaesthetic or second specialty sessions as agreed.
• Supervise and teach trainees and specialty doctors.
• Support Stage 1–3 ICM training.
• Participate in teaching programmes and clinical governance.
• Undertake quality improvement projects and clinical audits.
• Contribute to risk management and national audit programmes.
