Job summary
QinetiQ Limited is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for its Malvern site. You will help design, develop and deliver secure networking, server and cloud-based solutions across critical programmes, providing technical leadership across infrastructure activities.
You’ll work through the project lifecycle from requirements to delivery, with experience in networking, compute, virtualization, cloud and automation. This role is 37 hours per week and based on-site at Malvern.
Qualifications
- Experience designing, implementing and supporting IT infrastructure solutions.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise networking, routing, switching and security principles.
- Experience with Windows Server and virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure or AWS).
- Experience developing automation/scripting (PowerShell or Python).
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across infrastructure projects and programmes.
- Design, develop and implement secure networking, server and cloud-based solutions.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation (designs, configurations, procedures).
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to deliver requirements.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development and delivery of secure networking solutions supporting critical programmes and projects.
Day-today, you'll provide technical leadership across infrastructure activities, working with project teams and stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable and innovative technology solutions. You'll contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through to implementation and delivery, covering networking, compute, virtualisation, cloud and automation technologies.
- Providing technical leadership across infrastructure projects and programmes
- Supporting the design, development and implementation of secure networking, server and cloud-based solutions
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation, including designs, configurations and support procedures
- Working with project managers, technical leads and stakeholders to deliver customer requirements
- Supporting technical reviews, change management and configuration control activities
- Supporting the integration and troubleshooting of networking, server, virtualisation and cloud platforms
- Strong technical experience gained within enterprise, defence or secure environments
- Experience designing, implementing and supporting IT infrastructure solutions
- Good knowledge of enterprise networking technologies, routing, switching and network security principles
- Experience with Windows Server, virtualisation platforms (VMware, Hyper-V or similar) and infrastructure services
- Exposure to cloud technologies, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
- Experience developing or maintaining automation and scripting solutions using technologies such as PowerShell or Python
- CCNA, CCNP or equivalent networking qualification and experience
- Microsoft, VMware, Azure or other relevant infrastructure certifications would be advantageous

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Malvern site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. The Malvern facility is noted for its work in electronic warfare, surveillance and complex system integration, contributing significantly to the UK’s defence capabilities. Developing technologies for military and civilian applications, including sensors, communications and cyber security.
