Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead civil and infrastructure design projects across multiple locations in the UK. The role involves coordinating SuDS and drainage, highways, utilities and earthworks while maintaining client relationships and ensuring buildable, compliant solutions.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage resources and support bid submissions. Strong communication with clients and authorities is essential, along with adhering to CDM and safety

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) status with a relevant professional institution.
• Experience in infrastructure design including drainage, SuDS and earthworks.
• Proven track record delivering projects through all RIBA stages.
• Excellent understanding of current design standards and regulations.
• Experience producing technical reports and communicating with clients and stakeholders.

Job Role: Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Any of the following (ideally 1 day per week but this can be negotiable) - London, Southampton, Bristol, Cambridge, Birmingham, Manchester

Rate : £45.00 - £50 per hour Outside IR35

Contract duration: 6 months +

Hours per week: 37.5

The Opportunity

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality infrastructure designs while supporting the development of junior engineers and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the delivery of civil and infrastructure design projects.
• Design and coordinate:
  • Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Surface water and foul water drainage
  • Highways and access roads
  • Utilities infrastructure
  • Earthworks design
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated and buildable solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Manage project resources, programme delivery and fee forecasting.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities and key stakeholders to secure approvals and project outcomes.
• Promote best practice in health, safety and quality, including CDM compliance.
• Support business development activities, bid submissions and client relationship management.

What We\'re Looking For

• Strong experience in infrastructure design, including drainage, SuDS and earthworks.

• Excellent understanding of current design standards and industry regulations.
• Experience producing technical reports and communicating effectively with clients and stakeholders.
• Passion for sustainable infrastructure and innovative engineering solutions.

Desirable Skills

• Experience using InfoDrainage and/or MicroDrainage.
• Civil 3D proficiency.
• Ability to obtain BPSS and Security Clearance (SC).
