Job summary

Basildon Borough Council is recruiting a Legal Officer (Property & Contracts) on an initial 2-month contract to support information governance. The role is onsite at Basildon, Essex, with 3 days per week in the office and 36.25 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Essential: Knowledge of Data Protection Act and UK GDPR.
• Essential: Understanding of local and national government legislation.
• Essential: Excellent IT skills including SharePoint, Outlook, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Information Governance Manager and Data Protection Officer with compliance to data protection and FOI legislation.
• Advise on data privacy matters, assess processing operations risks, and advise on exemptions.
• Review procedures, policies, privacy notices and contracts relating to processing of personal information.
