The Senior Individual Patient Funding Requests (IPFR) Manager is responsible for managing the processes required to discharge the Joint Commissioning Committee (JCC) IPFR functions on behalf of the Medical Director.

The post holder will provide expert professional and clinical advice on the operational and strategic management of IPFR received for specialised services within the organisation and to provide external advice and support as required.

I In conjunction with the policy leads, they will support the development of protocols, policies and implementation of organisational and national policy, to support the consideration and management of patient funding requests.

T The individual will oversee the financial authorisation of funding for individual patient treatments and services, which meet an organisational commissioning policy and/or are part of contracted activity.

The post holder is responsible for providing leadership and overall managerial responsibility for the IPFR Team, which includes ensuring systems and processes are in place in support of a systematic approach for both IPFR applications Prior Approval applications.

Following the establishment of the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC) on 1st April 2024 and a recent organisational restructure, we are seeking a Senior Individual Patient Funding Requests (IPFR) Manager (NWJCC), Joint Commissioning Committee (JCC) to support our journey as a newly formed organisation.

The NWJCC is a joint committee of the seven health boards in Wales, with a Chair and Lay Members. We support collaborative commissioning across Wales, with around 120 staff based in Mold and Nantgarw/Treforest.

Our mission to be The Centre of Excellence for Collaborative Commissioning, improving health and care outcomes across Wales. We commission around 220 services, from NHS 111 and ambulance services to specialised rare disease services, and mental health, operating a £1.14bn budget.
