What You’ll Be Doing as a Senior ICA Engineer
  • Ensure that control and instrumentation requirements are accurately captured in project technical briefs to support effective design and delivery.
  • Undertake detailed ICA engineering tasks, applying your expertise to develop robust and efficient solutions.
  • Deliver engineering solutions that meet all relevant regulatory standards and compliance requirements for ICA-related assets.
  • Contribute to project definition briefs and provide expert review, approval, and assurance of ICA designs to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Assist in identifying and defining upgrade paths for obsolete systems and components, ensuring continuity and reliability of operations.
  • Provide input into the development and enhancement of technical asset standards, driving innovation and best practice.
  • Assist in the development of reference control and instrument system designs that can be used on multiple sites.
  • Lead and promote best practices in ICA engineering across the organisation, setting high standards for technical delivery.
  • Act as the technical authority during project delivery phases, ensuring solutions meet design intent and are ready for operational handover.
  • Review engineering contractor deliverables for compliance with TW standards.

Base location: Hybrid - Clearwater Court - RG1 8DB

What you should bring to the role

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is:

  • A recognised senior design engineer in their Engineering Discipline, probably including expertise in design and specifying instrumentation, PLC and SCADA systems, data/telemetry networks and Safety Instrument Systems and with meaningful experience in the water industry.
  • Degree level or equivalent with professional chartership preferred in their Engineering Discipline or on their roadmap of professional development.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve compliance with our engineering regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, both internally and externally.
  • Collaborate actively with the ability to influence senior colleagues.
  • A passion for continuous professional development and an active approach to driving diversity within Engineering at Thames.
  • Ability to produce detailed system architecture drawings, control philosophies, I/O lists, Instrument data sheets, etc, as part of the engineering design process.
