Senior Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer – Worcester

Our client, Yamazaki Mazak is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years.

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer to lead and support our safety initiatives across Mazak. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, promoting a strong safety culture, and driving continuous improvement in HSE performance.

Job Description
  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Deliver HSE training and toolbox talks to staff and contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with legal and company requirements.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely reporting.
  • Support the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills.
  • Champion a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all levels of the organization.
  • Report analysis including trends.
  • Interrogate root cause of accidents including creation of departmental systems and procedures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Understand & maintain departmental systems, procedures & KPIs.
  • Has the ability and willingness to train others on OJT.
  • Demonstrate tangible Kaizen based improvement projects for SQDCP.
  • Control 5S to a high standard.
Essential Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Diploma
  • Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or Risk Management.
Desirable Certifications
  • IOSH Membership.
  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor.
  • Environmental Management Qualification.
  • First Aid at Work & Fire Safety.
  • Manual Handling Training.
  • Formal training in COSHH, Work at Height, or advanced risk assessment techniques desirable.
Experience Requirements
  • Typically 5+ years in HSE roles, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and delivering training.
  • Understanding of local and international HSE laws, regulations, and standards and compliance frameworks relevant to the industry.
  • Experience of working with certification bodies.
