Reading Buses Group is seeking an HSE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental management across Reading, Thames Valley Buses and Newbury & District Buses. The role requires proactive leadership, site oversight, and regular travel between company locations, with reports to the Engineering Director.

You will establish risk-based programmes, develop policies, and drive improvements while coaching managers and drivers to reinforce a strong safety culture.

Competenze

• NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (Level 6+) or equivalent, with progress towards completion.
• Proven hands-on health and safety experience in transport, engineering, vehicle maintenance, logistics or similar operational environment.
• Solid knowledge of UK health and safety requirements and practical application (risk assessment, inspections, incident investigation).
• Strong communication, coaching and influencing skills; ability to build trust at all levels.

Mansioni

• Establish a risk-prioritised programme to review compliance gaps and update risk assessments with managers and employees.
• Build relationships with drivers and managers; coach teams and lead safety meetings.
• Maintain and improve the health and safety management system; develop policies and safe systems of work.
• Plan risk-based visits, inspections and audits across sites; manage action tracker and deadlines.
• Advise on contractor safety, permits, and CDM client duties; support HR and managers on health surveillance and records.
