Job description

We are recruiting a Senior HR Advisor/ Business Partner for our Engineering SME client. You’ll be building, improving, and embedding meaningful people practices from the ground up in a company that values autonomy, innovation, and a strong, human‑first culture.

You’ll be the go‑to expert on all things operational HR, while partnering closely with the Chief of Staff on strategic people projects. This is your chance to influence and shape the employee experience in a company where HR really matters—and where your work will be seen, valued, and make a difference every day.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Own the full employee lifecycle—from contracts and onboarding to exits and everything in between.
  • Coach and empower managers to lead their teams with confidence.
  • Handle day‑to‑day HR operations while keeping us compliant, fair, and future‑ready.
  • Support wellbeing, engagement, and inclusion initiatives that help people thrive.
  • Streamline HR processes and systems so they scale with the business.
  • Help design and deliver learning and development experiences.
  • Keep policies sharp, relevant, and legally sound.
  • Support the roll‑out of rewards, benefits, and performance programmes.
What we’re looking for:
  • 3–5 years in a generalist HR role, preferably in a fast‑paced SME or start‑up.
  • Confident with employee relations, compliance, and HR systems (bonus if you’ve used Citation/Atlas!).
  • Experience supporting line managers through the tough stuff—grievances, absence, performance, etc.
  • A calm, clear communicator and trusted advisor to employees and managers alike.
  • Proactive, autonomous, and solutions‑focused—you spot the gaps and fix them.
  • CIPD Level 3–5 or equivalent experience.
Key benefits:
  • Private healthcare including dental, optical & more.
  • Flexible working & enhanced family leave.
  • Share options, monthly bonus & reward schemes.
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays + up to 10 extra days with service.
  • Bring your dog to work.
  • Subsidised café lunches & free parking.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme, pension, and much more.
