Job description

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with a consultancy background to join their established infrastructure team to help address their ever-expanding workload. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with highway design and willing to learn some drainage design, encompassing projects both within the public highway and on-site.

We are looking for someone able to take instruction from the senior members of the team and then complete the tasks either independently or working with our junior members of the team, helping to impart their knowledge and improve junior experience.

Expect to work on

• Section 278 / 38 Highway Designs
• Highway designs to DMRB and Local Authority guidelines
• Residential Estate Roads, Commercial / Industrial Access
• Ground Modelling / Earthworks Design to include geotechnical and environmental appraisal & Pavement designs

What you need to succeed

• At least 5 years experience working in a UK consultancy on both highway and drainage design schemes
• Technical experience within the field of Civil Engineering design, covering several aspects of preliminary and detailed design of levels and external works
• Experience liaising with both internal and external bodies, including planning authorities, statutory undertakers, and national bodies such as National Highways
• Experience in design delivery, including multi-disciplinary designs
• A proficiency using our industry-standard design packages AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• A practical knowledge of relevant highway design standards, guidelines and processes
• Can multitask and manage a portfolio of projects across various scales
• Can communicate effectively and professionally with the design team, clients, and contractors
• Understand the multi-disciplinary nature of projects from the planning stage, through to completion
• Chartered or working towards being chartered with ICE
• A proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite of software, including Excel
