Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD are seeking an experienced Highway Estimator to join their commercial team in Greater Manchester. You will prepare estimates for highways and civil schemes, lead tender submissions and negotiate with clients within established frameworks.

You'll use schedules of rates and first-principles estimating, develop cost-buildups, and collaborate with procurement to manage supply chain relationships.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years' experience in highway estimating or senior QS role.
• Experience in highways or civil engineering projects.
• Knowledge of Candy, Causeway or similar estimating software.
• Familiarity with NEC, JCT contracts and SMM7.
• Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and communication skills.
• Experience producing method statements and meeting tight deadlines.
• Competent with Microsoft Office and MS Project.
• Ability to lead and develop a team; full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit estimates for highway and civil schemes using schedules of rates and first-principles estimating.
• Negotiate with clients on direct-award frameworks, including site meetings and measurements.
• Engage with clients during ECI to develop future schemes and cost-effective solutions.
• Produce project programmes using MS Project and prepare construction method statements.
• Lead bid submissions for PQQs and framework opportunities.
• Prepare social value matrices to support bids and tenders.
• Collaborate with Procurement to maintain key supply chain relationships.
• Prepare estimating handover documentation for site teams with cost build-ups and targets.
• Assist the Commercial team with compensation event pricing and build-ups.
• Support wider business and marketing strategy alongside the Commercial team.
