Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team. The role focuses on leading drainage schemes from concept to delivery, within the Shropshire Alliance, and may involve travel to Shropshire and Birmingham.

The position offers a mix of in-office and home working from our Shrewsbury office. You will lead feasibility studies, detailed designs, reports, and funding applications for a local client.

Qualifications

• Experience leading drainage design projects in civil/highways sectors.
• Proficient with Civil 3D/AutoCAD and flow modelling tools.
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and client outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Independently deliver complex drainage schemes from conception through to delivery.
• Investigation, data collection and analysis.
• Feasibility studies, designs and reports.
• Development of funding applications on behalf of the Client.
• Preliminary and detailed drainage design, compliant with DMRB, Local Design Specifications, Sewage Sector Guidance, CDM2015 and BIM.
• Contract administration.
• Construction supervision.
• Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of you and team members.

We have retained the Shropshire Professional Service Contract with key local client, Shropshire Council. We pride ourselves on the longevity of this contract, and the close working relationship we have developed over the last 23 years.

WSP work collaboratively as part of the Shropshire Alliance alongside Shropshire Council and Kier. We deliver a broad range of exciting projects, providing new and varied opportunities on this contract and within the wider WSP business.

As a Senior Drainage Engineer you will work as part of our multi-disciplinary team to deliver complex drainage schemes from conception through to delivery. You will take a lead on feasibility studies, detailed design and investigations.

The role is based from our WSP Shrewsbury office, with flexible working allowing for a mix of in-office and home working. There is also the potential for the role to be based in Birmingham, with travel to Shropshire required on a regular basis.

This is a varied role with responsibilities including:

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

• Experience of leading on drainage design projects within the highways or related sectors.
• Familiarity with DMRB, Local Design Specifications, Sewage Sector Guidance and CDM2015.
• Commitment to health, safety and welfare of yourself and team members.
• Competent using Civil 3D/AutoCAD, Causeway Flow and Microsoft Office.
• Commitment to working collaboratively and with a client focus.
