Job summary

A global manufacturing business is seeking a Senior HGV Technician to join their team in Leyland. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience and hold relevant qualifications such as a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure safety and compliance.   • Valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence is desirable.

Senior HGV Technician

Salary: £54,000 - £61,700
Location: Leyland
Schedule: Days Only (Mon-Fri)

gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Senior HGV & Plant Technician to work at their facility based near Leyland.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs & MOTs on HGVs, Trailers, Pool Cars & Other Plant to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of mechanical & electrical faults using Texa diagnostic equipment
  • Dismantle, repair/replace faulty components and test the new ones are working safely
  • Liaise with HGV workshop administrator to order vehicle parts
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is completed and accurate records are maintained.
  • Good communication and maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment
Person Specification
  • 8+ Years of HGV/Plant Technician experience
  • Apprentice trained and qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
  • Holds valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence (Desirable)
  • MOT Preparation Experience – Tractor Units & Trailers
  • Previous experience working with HGVs and Plant, basic welding skills, hydraulic & automotive electrical skills
  • Ability to lead a small team as well as use own initiative to work independently
  • Hardworking and can work well under pressure in a safe and responsible manner
  • IRTEC Accreditation (Desirable)
  • Loler competence – experience in undertaking loler inspections – LEEA Apply
