Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Heritage Planner to join the Heritage team across the UK, with offices in Manchester, London or Reading. You will work on national heritage projects within Built Heritage, delivering high-quality planning work and contributing to business growth.

The role requires a proactive, commercially minded professional with strong communication, teamwork and development focus. Hybrid working and developers’ client relationships are key aspects of the position.

Qualifications

• Relevant first degree and/or postgraduate qualification in historic environment conservation or similar
• Chartered IHBC, CIfA or RTPI membership
• Full IHBC membership eligibility
• Proficient with Microsoft packages
• Excellent teamwork and commercial mindset
• Willingness to travel nationally

• Undertake appraisals of heritage significance, impact assessments and appeal statements

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and commercially minded Senior Heritage Planner to join our specialist Heritage team , building on our profile and success to date.

The team have enjoyed continued success, establishing a heritage business that is recognised as a leading name in the industry. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting and prestigious projects, delivering high quality work to our client base.

This role will be based in either of our Manchester , London or Reading offices.

You will be working alongside your heritage colleagues and a wealth of other disciplines to undertake national work , predominantly in the Built Heritage space supporting colleagues through the UK business as well as an external client base.

You will be enthusiastic, eager to learn and have the capability to help grow the business and your profile in the Heritage / Historic Environment space. Your Impact:

About You:

We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable individual, ideally with private sector experience or a clear ability to transition into that environment. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong report writing capability, alongside a keen interest in business development and networking. You will be personable, professional, and driven, demonstrating ambition and a proactive, enthusiastic approach in everything you do, while effectively managing your own time and workload.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Have a relevant first degree and/or post-graduate qualification in historic environment conservation, architectural history, building conservation or similar
• Chartered status with IHBC, CIfA or RTPI
• Have or be eligible for full IHBC membership
• Be committed to continuing their professional development with a willingness to learn and progress
• Be proficient with Microsoft packages
• Have excellent team-working skills
• Be commercially minded
• Have sound technical knowledge of heritage planning policy, legislation and best practice guidance
• Have experience of appraising heritage significance and undertaking impact assessments
• Hold a full UK driving licence and are willing to travel nationally.
