Job summary

The Robert Burns Ellisland Trust seeks a Freelance Fundraising & Development Consultant to advance the Saving the Home of Auld Lang Syne campaign. Initial focus on trusts, foundations, bid writing and funding applications, with remote and occasional in-person collaboration across Scotland.

Experience in heritage fundraising and National Lottery Heritage Fund projects is essential. Flexible, consultancy contract with 1.5–2.5 days per week, reporting to the Project Director.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in trusts and foundations fundraising.
• Excellent bid writing and communication skills.
• Experience with heritage, arts, culture or capital fundraising.
• Experience of capital campaigns with mixed public/private funding.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Ability to prioritise effectively and work to tight timescales.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a developing project environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality funding applications to trusts, foundations and statutory funders.
• Tailor applications and supporting materials to funder priorities and timelines.
• Coordinate budgets and technical data required for applications.
• Draft donor briefings, proposals and fundraising materials as required.
• Progress priority funding prospects identified by the Trust.
• Support donor cultivation and follow-up activity.
• Maintain fundraising tracking systems, schedules and reporting timelines.
• Coordinate input from trustees, consultants and advisers.
