Job description
Job Summary

The post holder will work as an integral part of the Outpatients Services team. As an employee of the NHS Wales the post holder will be required to adhere to the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales. The working pattern is over four days between the hours of 08:00 - 18:00.

The HCSW/Prepper role is a mix of administration and preparation, undertaken to support the daily delivery of Outpatient Services. The post holder will link with members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure clinical activities are planned and completed in line with outpatient treatment guidelines.

Main duties of the job
  • To work within the policies and procedures as laid down within the Trust and observe the safety of patients / clients.
  • Check and chase up patient blood results (internal/external).
  • Electronically admit and discharge patients ensuring appropriate follow‑up appointments and information are given and recorded.
  • Be aware of the importance of prevention of infection in immunocompromised patients.
  • Direct patients to the appropriate treatment area of the department.
  • Telephone contact with patients to rearrange appointments.
  • Refer complex enquiries to the nursing team or line manager.
  • Analyse information to ensure compliance with standards and collate evidence through audit to support this.
  • Assess the bookings on a continual basis judging the impact of each new booking on the nursing workload.
  • Prep each clinic and ensure maximum chair usage using the Cansic lists and chemo care.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
