Job summary

LV Care Group seeks a Senior Health Care Assistant to join the Jersey Home Care team, delivering high-quality personal care in line with regulatory standards. You will support Service Users to maintain independence, work within care plans, and collaborate with nurses and the management team.

The role involves assisting with mobility, hydration, medication administration (as trained), and engaging with Service Users to promote dignity and quality of life in a warm home-based setting.

Qualifications

  • RQF Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • RQF Level 3 Medication Unit is required for Senior Health Care Assistants looking to undertake medication administration tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care to Service Users in line with regulatory standards.
  • Support Service Users with personal care to promote independence.
  • Monitor progress and report deterioration in health appropriately.
  • Coordinate with Registered Nurses/Manager on care delivery and audits.
  • Liaise with other agencies as required.
  • Attend supervision meetings and participate in audits.

Description

CI Homecare are looking for a Senior Health Care Assistant to join the team and be responsible for providing high-quality care to Service Users, in-line with the highest regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
General Responsibilities;-
  • To work as a team to provide high-quality care to Service Users in
    line with regulatory standards.
  • Promoting and Safeguarding the welfare of Service Users.
  • To support the Service Users, ensuring personal care tasks are carried out to enhance and support the independence of the Service User, in-line with the Care Plan(s).
  • Reviewing progress of care with the Service User, reporting any signs of deterioration in physical and mental health appropriately.
  • Follow policies and procedures to maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and control.
  • Measuring effectiveness of Service Users' Care Plan(s) with interdisciplinary team; providing care improvement recommendations when required.
  • To carry out tasks in a way that will demonstrate respect for dignity and privacy of Service Users.
  • To liaise with other agencies involved with Service Users, when required.
  • To respect the rights and choices of Service Users.
  • Participate in audits, as requested and required.
  • Act in accordance with all legal requirements; fostering treatment practices and standards of care that comply to the values of the home, whilst observing governing regulations.
  • To encourage positive social interaction with Service Users.
  • Attend and participate in supervision meetings and appraisals, where required.
  • Comply with all respective company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the care that our Health Care Assistants are giving to Service Users, and addressing any performance issues with the Registered Nurses/and or the Deputy/Registered Manager.
Personal Care Responsibilities;-

Senior Health Care Assistants will undertake any tasks that have been identified in the Care Plan(s), which may include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting Service Users to mobilise in accordance with best moving and handling practices and Care Plans.
  • Assisting Service Users to maintain a good dietary intake of food and drinks, in accordance with training and Care Plans.
  • Undertake roles in relation to medication administration (this is role specific and must be carried out at the discretion of management and in-line with training, local standards and company policy).
  • Encourage Service Users to be as independent as possible with their personal care requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications;-
  • RQF Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • RQF Level 3 Medication Unit is required for Senior Health Care Assistants looking to undertake medication administration tasks.
Personal Characteristics;-
  • Caring, kind and friendly.
  • Willing to be hands-on with Service Users.
  • Willing to do personal care tasks (washing, toileting, etc.).
  • Able to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Able to work in a team but use their own initiative.
  • Flexible and reliable.
